Farrugia Cann elected as new president of Malta Referees Association

Trustin Farrugia Cann has been elected as the new president of the Malta Referees Association.

His appointment was confirmed during the governing body’s Annual General Meeting which was held on Monday, during which an election for a new president was held.

Farrugia Cann amassed 70.8 per cent of the votes while his rival, Paul Caruana scored 29.2 per cent.

Farrugia Cann is the 12th president of the association and he will replace Mario Apap.

The newly-elected president is not a new face in the association’s administration as last season he was filling the position of vice-president.

Farrugia Cann has established himself as one of the top referees in the country and for the last four years he was on the FIFA Panel. Last year he was also promoted to the UEFA Category Two which paves the way for him to officiate international friendly matches as well as group games from the Europa League.
