Valletta have confirmed the signing of Argentine wingback Leandro Aguirre.
The news confirms the story published by the Times of Malta last month that the 31-year-old wing-back was heading back to the capital club for a second spell in Maltese football.
“Valletta Football Club is delighted to announce the official agreement of terms with Argentinian defender Leandro Aguirre,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“The 31-year old Argentinian from Rosario has signed a one-year contract with the Citizens with a club option for the second year.
“Aguirre started his football career with the Boca Juniors youths team, he had firstly joined Valletta back in season 2016/2017 playing 30 matches and scoring four goals.
On behalf of all of us at Valletta FC we would like to re welcome Leandro and wish him all the best with our Club.”
Aguirre could be in the Valletta squad on Monday when the Citizens open their Premier League campaign against Birkirkara at the National Stadium.
