Ryan Fenech is a new Valletta FC player after he agreed terms with the Premier League club.
Earlier on Wednesday, the 34-year-old met with the Birkirkara hierarchy and reached an agreement to rescind the remaining of his two-year contract after struggling to secure regular football under Dutch coach Andre Paus.
Once Fenech became a free agent, he was approached by Valletta FC and teh player agreed personal terms and put pen to paper on a two-year contract.
“Valletta Football Club is delighted to announce the official agreement of terms with Maltese midfielder and Valletta FC ex-captain Ryan Fenech,” Valletta FC said in a statement.
“The 34-year old experienced midfielder has signed a 2 year contract with the Citizens, he had joined our club back in 2011 playing 59 matches and scoring 9 goals till 2015.
“On behalf of all of us at Valletta FC we would like to welcome Ryan and wish him all the best with our club.”
For Fenech, this will be his second spell at Valletta FC after he had joined the Lilywhites in July 2011 and remained there until 2014, bar a short loan spell with Sliema Wanderers.
With Valletta, Ryan Fenech has made 138 appearances, scoring 21 goals, and winning three league titles.
Feench is the second Maltese player to have left the Stripes this week after Matthew Guillaumier moved to Hamrun Spartans.
Birkirkara are now expected to bring in two new overseas players who they will be able to sign after Wednesday’s transfer deadline as they are currently free agents.
