Match day six of the BOV Women’s League will see two of the most in-form teams of the league clash with each other as leaders Mġarr United will rub shoulders with an impressive Kirkop United side.
The Greens are currently leading the championship with 10 points after five games, partnered by Swieqi United.
Champions Birkirkara, who will be absent from this week’s slate of games, are one point behind.
Kirkop, on their part, are fourth with six points in three games.
Last week, Mġarr earned a hard-fought point after their goalless stalemate against one of their title rivals, Swieqi United.
The Greens were at the back of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Birkirkara as their winning streak came to an end. Before that, they had gained nine points in their opening three league commitments.
The side coached by Bryan Falzon and Patrick Curmi will be relying on goals contribution from Francesca Chircop and Brenda Borg to return to winning ways. Both players have combined for 11 goals in total so far, with Mġarr finding the net 16 times in five league games.
Kirkop, on their part, have chalked up six points in three games with 12 goals scored thanks to forward Rodianne Zerafa who grabbed a staggering seven goals already.
The Reds, led by coach Jochen Lenders, served a bye last week after hitting six past Raiders Għargħur in the previous Match Day.
Youth forward Sarah Urpani is also having a bright start to the 2020/2021 campaign with four goals in her second season at Kirkop.
Elsewhere, Raiders Għargħur and Mtarfa will clash with each other in an intriguing game from the bottom half of the championship.
Both sides have found it hard in this season so far, with Raiders chalking up three points after four games while Mtarfa are still looking for their first points of the season in their maiden top-flight appearance.
Meanwhile, Birkirkara’s games against Mosta of this week and next Monday’s game against Mtarfa have been postponed and will be rescheduled.
