Valletta FC have confirmed that Mihailo Jovanovic and Taisei Marukawa have agreed to terminate their contracts with the club by mutual consent.

Jovanovic and Marukawa both joined the Citizens last summer and were regular members for the capital club.

It is understood that Jovanovic has decided to leave the club due to family reasons and will return back to Serbia in the coming days.

On the other hand, Marukawa has received an offer from a Latvian club and was given the nod from the Citizens to terminate his contract.

“Mihailo Jovanovic and Taisei Marukawa have mutually terminated their contracts with Valletta Football Club,” a club statement said on Saturday.

“The Serbian defender and the Japanese midfielder had both joined Valletta way back last August and signed a contract till the end of season.

“The club would like to thank both Mihailo and Taisei, for their commitment and professionalism during their short spell with the club, and wishes them the best for their future career.”

Valletta are working hard to bring in replacements and they are currently in advanced talks to sign Wellington, from Sirens.

The Citizens are also very keen to bring in Brazilian midfielder Gilmar, who is currently on the books of Sliema Wanderers.
