Seydou Doumbia scored for the second successive match as Ħamrun Spartans coasted through to the FA Trophy last 16 when they eased past Sannat Lions 3-1 at the Gozo Stadium.
The Spartans fielded several fringe players and also gave a debut to new signing David Yeboah Johnson.
Johnson enjoyed a fine debut when he put the Spartans ahead after 18 minutes when he hit a firm shot into the far post.
However, the Lions managed to restore parity 11 minutes into the second half with a spectacular strike from Milos Peric.
But the Spartans soon recovered their poise and restored their lead on 63 minutes when Michele Laraspata was pushed inside the area with referee Etienne Mangion pointing to the spot.
Doumbia stepped up and sent goalkeeper Lorjean Xuereb the wrong way to put the Reds back in front.
Ħamrun sealed their win with a third goal in stoppage time when Blas Cittadini headed the ball home from close in.
Tarxien Rainbows enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as they breezed past Qormi 3-0.
The scorers for the Rainbows where Eduardo Rosado, Jurgen Debono, and youngster Luigi Bonavia.
On the other hand, Marsa edged past Żebbuġ Rangers 1-0, courtesy of a Jackson Lima goal on 62 minutes.
Xagħra United eased past Birżebbuġa St Peter’s 4-1.
Filipe De Souza notched a brace for the Gozitans with the other goals coming from Francesco Attard and Rafael De Souza Santos.
