Watch: AaB Aalborg Sporting Director heaps praise on Malta’s facilities ahead of Tipsport Cup

Denmark’s club AaB Aalborg are set to be the highlight of the annual Tipsport Malta Cup that will be held for the fourth consecutive year on Maltese islands between January 16 and January 25.

In recent days, the club’s Sporting Director Inge Andre Olsen visited the training facilities in person ahead of AaB’s training camp in January and heaped praise on the environment that will host his club in the next weeks.

“We saw that the standard of the infrastructures of the training facilities, hotels and other accommodations is very high and we are looking forward to it,” he said in a promotional video to MFA Sports Plus.

AaB are currently fourth in Denmark’s top-flight with 28 points after 17 games. As the Danish league will pause for the traditional winter break during the months of December and January, four-time Denmark champions AaB will see this tournament as an opportunity to prepare for their remaining four league outing, starting by their away trip to leaders Midtjylland.

Another notable club taking part in this tournament will be Spartak Trnava of Slovakia. The Slovakian side faced Mosta in the first qualifying round of the newly-launched UEFA Europa Conference League back in June. Spartak Trnava boast former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel in their squad.

“We are really looking forward to travel to Malta and play in the Tipsport Malta Cup where there will be other important teams from Europe,” Olsen said.

Last year’s Tipsport Malta Cup winners WSG Tirol of Austria will be making their return to this tournament together with SK Sigma Olomouc of Czech Republic.
