A special night for Malta international defender Zach Muscat who captained Casa Pia in a high-profile encounter against Sporting CP in the fourth round of the Portuguese cup, on Wednesday.
Casa Pia, who are currently fourth in the Portuguese second-tier, hosting Portugal’s champions in the last 16 of the domestic cup.
Watch: Sporting CP’s first goal.
Muscat started as one of the three central defenders deployed in the five-man backline as he faced a star-studded squad that included several Sporting CP big names such as captain Sebastian Coates, Portugal international Joao Palinha and Pablo Sarabria, who moved to Portugal from Paris Saint-Germain on loan.
Watch: Sporting CP’s second goal.
Casa Pia staged a spirited display but it was not enough to avoid a narrow defeat, despite forging ahead in the first half. Sporting equalised through Coates before the half-time whistle before Sarabria handed his team the qualification with a second-half strike.
