Haverhill Rovers’ new project looks promising, says Maltese coach Dylan Galea

Maltese coach Dylan Galea is enjoying his start to his new coaching chapter at Haverhill Rovers’ women’s side in English football.

Galea, who has been in charge of the side since November, has been tasked to lay the foundations for a new and exciting project that can hopefully transform Haverhill Rovers into a competitive side in the near future.

Last Sunday, Galea guided his Haverhill Rovers team in the first round of the League Cup organised by the Eastern Region Women’s Football League where they hosted Newmarket Town.

For the record, Haverhill saw their two-goal lead vanish as they went on to exit the competition after losing on penalties.

Nonetheless, Galea – who is a UEFA B licensed coach – heaped praise on his players for their performance.

“Really proud of the team’s effort all around the pitch. We were strong as a collective and some individual performances really stood out,” Galea told the club’s official social media channels.

“To lose a 2-goal lead is naturally disappointing but the building blocks for the future of the team are coming together and that’s what we are all looking at.

After the performance, I can tell everyone is on board with what we’re looking to do at the club, it’s a new project which looks extremely promising and the vibe around the place is getting better and better…”
