Jose Borg’s FC Manitoba to launch USL League 2 campaign in May

Maltese coach Jose Borg is set to guide FC Manitoba in the USL League 2 as they will launch their campaign with a home opener against Thunder Bay Chill on May 28.

Borg, who took over at the club in March 2021, was set to be in charge of Manitoba in the USL League already last year, but the Canadian-based club had to postpone their participation due to the pandemic situation.

Instead, Borg led his club in a series of regional friendlies which saw him also chalk up his first win at the helm of the Canadian team.

The USL League 2 is considered as the fourth-tier in the United States football pyramid. Manitoba’s regular season will run from May 28 until July 18 before the post-season play-offs take place to determine the ultimate winner of the League 2.

Borg’s team has been handed a stern test as one of their five opponents in the six-team division is Des Moines Meinace, who clinched the League 2 in the 2021 season.

The other opponents are Peoira City, Minneapolis City and St Crox.

Despite the lack of action during 2021, coach Borg’s work at the club did not go unnoticed as he drew the interest of the local media as well.
