Brazilian point guard Palmira Marcal has joined Caffe MOAK Luxol, agency InterPerformances announced on Thursday.
Marcal, joins on the back of a winning season in Brazil with Ituano – a team she had been with for the past three seasons, sounded her enthusiasm following the moves saying: “it will be a great journey”. She has also played in Spain with Olesa, and Croatia with Gospic besides other Brazilian teams.
The veteran player’s highlight will be her involvement with Brazil’s National Team for the Rio Olympics of 2016 despite the side not doing too well in the tournament.
Marcal was also part of the National team previously in 2010 for the World Championships in the Czech Republic, and the Pan American Games in 2007 (Silver medal winner) and 2011.
The guard joins a Luxol side in need of a replacement for Jennifer Oramas, who suffered a season-ending injury earlier in the season. Santino Coppa’s girls will be looking for Marcal to make an impact as the team is currently in last place of the standings on a 3-7 record after 10 games played so far.
Luxol face Starlites on Monday in their next game.
