Rachel Cuschieri’s Lazio women’s team conceded a late defeat at the hands of Milan in the Serie A Femminile.
Milan netted a late goal on the 88th minute through Nina Stapelfeldt to dash Lazio’s hopes of a precious draw. Sara Thrige Andersen made sure of the win in stoppage time to secure a 3-1 win for Milan.
Lazio had forged ahead when Rachel Cuschieri pounced on a loose ball from a Milan’s dead ball situation and led a well-engineered positive transition which was capitalised by Noemi Visentin.
Milan had equalised through Martina Piemonte just before half-time with the Rossonere securing the victory with two goals from Stapelfeldt and Andersen.
Cuschieri was in the starting formation and played a full game as Lazio remain second bottom with just three points.
Lazio’s upcoming league game will be an away tie at Fiorentina on February 27.
