Malta international Matthew Guillaumier was handed his Siena debut when he came on in the final 15 minutes of their Serie C – Girone B game against Aquila Montevarchi, on Sunday.
The 23-year-old joined the Tuscany-based side on deadline day of the winter transfer window and was immediately called up for Sunday’s home game against Aquila Montevarchi.
The former Ħamrun Spartans captain started on the bench with Siena opening a two-goal lead through former Milan player Alberto Paloschi and Cassio Cardoselli.
Guillaumier was inserted into the fray on the 76th minute and was immediately cautioned after a professional foul, which prevented his team from being outnumbered in a negative transition.
Siena won 2-0 to lift them selves into ninth place with 30 points. Their next Serie C game is an away fixture at Pistoiese, Zach Muscat’s former team, on February 13.
