Malta’s Matthew Guillaumier handed second Siena start in Serie C

Matthew Guillaumier was handed his second start at Siena as he played in the 3-1 defeat at the hands of Carrarese in Serie C, on Thursday evening.

This is the fifth straight appearance for the Malta international since joining the club on deadline day of the winter transfer window, last month.

After starting in the 2-0 victory over Fermana a fortnight ago, Guillaumier was once again entrusted with the role of a starting central midfielder in Siena’s 3-4-3 formation.

The former Ħamrun Spartans captain got the ground running quickly and was one of Siena’s most dangerous players on the field, coming close to find the net on a couple of occasions.

Guillaumier, 23, played 75 minutes before being replaced.

After this defeat, Siena have slipped just outside the promotion play-off zone with 34 points after 28 games.

They will host Viterbese in their next Serie C commitment, next Sunday.
