Ella Fenech Attard establishes two Age Group B records

The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta hosted the third Time Trials for the 2021-22 season last weekend.

The event proved to be one of the most evenly balanced meets, with 129 male and 128 female athletes, representing nine clubs taking part. The meet, which took nearly five hours, saw a total of 684 individual entries being held.

During the meeting, Ella Fenech Attard established two new Age Group B records.

In her 400m freestyle event, Fenech Attard beat Sophia Allen’s previous record, established on December 12, 2020, by over four seconds when she clocked a time of 5:02.41.

In the 800m Freestyle Fenech Attard beat her record of 10:32.14 established in October last year to establish a new standard of 10:15.23.

For the first time, the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta hosted heats specifically for swimmers falling within the Masters categories, which are open to those above 25 years of age.

This category is aimed at older swimmers who practice this sport and would like to gauge their performance against fellow swimmers of their own level.

This newly-introduced class was well received and attracted a good level of participation.

The next swimming event on the ASA calendar will be the Easter International Swimming Meet which is scheduled to take place between April 21 and 23.
