Malta women’s international Ylenia Carabott will be opening her second season in England’s third-tier with an intriguing encounter against Watford.
Carabott has recently signed for Gillingham Women after spending one year at Keynsham Town Ladies during the previous campaign.
Gillingham were pitted against Watford on the opening day of the season during Monday’s draws. Watford were relegated from the FA Women’s Championship after a dramatic season finale in which they lost the decider against Coventry United just at the death.
“Unfortunately, my move to Gillingham collapsed last season but finally I am part of this family,” Carabott said in a recent interview with the club’s official media channels.
“I have an eye for goal, whether scoring or assisting, so I am looking forward to be on the ground,” she said.
“I hope that at Gillingham we win matches and also contribute to the team’s goals on a personal level.”
On Sunday, Carabott played in a pre-season friendly against Charlton Athletic as well.
The season will commence on August 21 with Gillingham playing their first home game the following weekend when they host Ipswich Town.
Crawley Wasps, Portsmouth, MK Dons, London Bees, Plymouth Argyle, Cheltenham Town, Billericay Town, Bridgewater United and Oxford United are the other teams competing in this championship.
