Maria Farrugia produced a memorable performance on Sunday as the Malta international scored a goal in each half to propel Lewes FC to a 2-1 win over Sheffield in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
The Malta international opened the score in the first half with a left-footed strike from the edge of the area to put her side one up.
After the change of ends, Farrugia beat Sheffield United’s goalkeeper from close-range to hand Lewes FC a crucial win as they fight for survival in England’s second-tier.
