Malta international Jodi Jones has been named League Two Player of the Season during Sunday night’s EFL awards.
Jones has enjoyed a very impressive campaign for Notts County and managed to break a number of assists record.
The former Coventry City player has been in a rich vein of form this season with 24 assists, breaking Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry’s record for the most in an English season (20).
“I am really delighted with this award,” Jones said after receiving the award.
“I would like to thank my family, my team-mates, the manager, and the coaching staff as without them this would not be possible.
“For me personally, looking at the number of injuries that I have been through, to come back and play week in and week out was a massive achievement and this award is the icing on the cake.”
Jones, who was nominated alongside Wrexham’s Elliot Lee and Mansfield’s Davis Keillor-Dunn, was joined at the ceremony by Macaulay Langstaff, who was named alongside him in the League Two Team of the Season.
Jones has been a key player in the Malta national team set-up and is likely to play a starring role as Malta will be bidding to win promotion in the men’s UEFA Nations League that will get under way next September.
Malta were drawn in a three-team group alongside Moldova and Andorra.
