A prestigious friendly is coming up for the Malta women’s national team as they will face World-Cup bound Haiti in a July friendly, the Haiti Football Federation announced.
Haiti, ranked 53, is one of the much-improved nations in women’s football and will be participating in their first ever World Cup this summer.
The Malta friendly is scheduled for July 1, in Martigny (Switzerland), where Haiti will be holding a training camp between June 19 and July 2.
Following the Malta friendly, Haiti will face South Korea and a local selection from Australia before they commence their World Cup campaign on July 22.
Haiti have been drawn in a tough group against European champions England, China and Denmark.
The Concacaf side made it to Australia/New Zealand after dispatching of Senegal and Chile in February’s play-offs and have recently also launched new kits ahead of their historic appointment.
Their squad is composed of several France-based players including highly-rated 19-year-old Melchie Dumornay (picture) who has just moved to giants Olympique Lyon and experienced player Roselord Borgella who has played in the United States and in South Korea during her career.
For Malta, who sit 87th in the FIFA rankings, this will be the fourth international test under the guidance of Manuela Tesse.
