Ben Plumpton has won the waterpolo BOV Player of the Year Award, the Aquatic Sports Association announced on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old Plumpton enjoyed an extraordinary season as he helped San Ġiljan TUM Invest to a league and cup double.
The feat takes further significance when one considers that the Saints landed both major honours without conceding a single defeat throughout.
In the First Division, the honour went to veteran player Niki Lanzon, of Valletta,
The experienced player, who had enjoyed a highly-successful career with Neptunes, joined Valletta and helped the capital to a league and cup double.
A second San Ġiljan player that was awarded the Player of the Year award was Stephanie Tanti Desjardins, who shone in this season’s women’s league.
In the junior categories, Neptunes player Alec Fenech wa named as the Player of the Year while Jayden Cutajar, of Sliema ASC, landed the honour in the Under 13 category.
The ASA said that the presentation ceremonies for these awards will be made in due course.
