Joseph Mbong attracting interest from Swiss clubs
Ħamrun Spartans are determined to do everything in their power to keep hold of Nigerian striker Franklin Sasere, The Times of Malta can reveal.
Reports earlier on Monday, had said that there was huge possibility that the Spartans will be unable to keep hold of the 22-year-old forward who arrived at the newly-crowned Premier League champions on loan from Swiss top-flight side Lugano.
Since his arrival from Lugano Sasere has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in the BOV Premier League.
In fact, Sasere managed to score 14 goals in 22 appearances for the Spartans and played a key role in the club’s title success which ended a 30-year wait.
Sources have told The Times of Malta, that the Spartans are determined to keep hold of Sasere and it is understood that the club top hierarchy are planning to make a bid to Lugano to try and keep hold of the player.
Ħamrun are also ready to extend Sasere’s loan stint for another season.
Meanwhile Ħamrun Spartans winger Joseph Mbong is attracting the interest of a number of Swiss sides following his excellent showings for the national team in the recent World Cup qualifiers..
In fact, Mbong put his name on the scoresheet in the 3-1 defeat to Russia at the National Stadium and also set up Luke Gambin’s scorching goal in Malta’s 2-2 draw against Slovakia in Trnava.
A number of Swiss clubs are keen to sign the former Hibs winger.
Although reports said that FC Sion are among the favourites for his signature, sources have told the Times of Malta that the Swiss side have made no contact for the player.
The Spartans have yet to receive a concrete offer for Mbong and will not let the player leave unless they receive a good bid that fully values the player.
