Keith Perry tipped for return as Sliema Wanderers plan to hold AGM next month

Sliema Wanderers are set to hold its Annual General Meeting on June 6, the Premier League club announced.

During the meeting the Wanderers are set to elect a new committee for the new season, with the position of a new president on top of the agenda.

The Wanderers are looking for a fresh start following a turbulent 2020-21 season, particularly off the pitch which saw the club going through several administrative problems which was highlighted by the departure of club president Jeffrey Farrugia.

In the last few weeks, Sliema Wanderers officials were trying to put the club back on track and it is understood that there is a strong backing for Keith Perry to return in the club administration and regain the place of club president, a position he forfeited nine months ago.

Last season, Perry was part of the club committee as he filled the position of honorary vice-president but decided to resign from his post after it was revealed that the club was going through serious financial problems, with players and members of the technical staff lamenting the club’s failure to honour their wages as stipulated by their contracts.

Sources have told the Times of Malta that there is a growing support for Perry to return to the club and his presence could have a huge effect on the future of first-team coach Andrea Pisanu and several key first-team players who are waiting for the Annual General Meeting to see who will be in charge of the club.

In his nine-year spell at the club, Perry has managed to help the Wanderers to an FA Trophy success in 2015-16.
