Valletta FC have been boosted by the return of Malta midfielder Rowen Muscat, the Premier League club announced.
Muscat left the Citizens at the end of last season to join UAE club Ras Al Khaimah where he was due to work with former City coach Giovanni Tedesco and play alongside Conor Borg, Jean Paul Farrugia, Maurizio Vella, Marco Criaco and Mathias Muchardi who all had a Maltese Premier league connection.
But the project floundered just before the start of the season when the club decided to cancel their registration in the championship due to financial problems.
Back in Malta Rowen Muscat opened talks with Valletta in a bid to return to the club and an agreement was finally reached that will see the player again don the colours of the City club for the next two seasons
“Valletta Football Club is pleased to announce the official agreement with Maltese international midfielder Rowen Muscat,” the Premier League club said.
“The 30-year-old experienced midfielder returns with our Club after a short spell with United Emirates club Ras Al Khaimah. During his career Rowen has worn the Lillywhites shirt as from January 2017, winning all major local football honors with our club.
“Muscat has joined the Citizens for the upcoming 2 seasons.
“On behalf of all of us at Valletta FC we would like to re-welcome Rowen and wish him all the best with our Club.”
Muscat could make his debut for Valletta on Saturday when they face Gudja United at the Hibs Stadium.
