Balzan FC have confirmed that Mark Miller is no longer their first-team coach.
On Tuesday, the Times of Malta revealed that the English coach had stepped down from his post with immediate effect after discussions with the club’s top hierarchy.
The Premier League club confirmed Miller’s departure in a club statement.
“Balzan FC would like to announce that Mark Miller has stepped down as first team coach for Balzan FC,” the club said in a statement.
“President Anton Tagliaferro said “ I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark for his dedication and hard work in the 18 months since he was appointed as Balzan FC coach and we wish him the very best of luck for the future.”
“A shortlist of candidates for the role has been drawn up and the club is hoping to be able to be in a position regarding a new appointment in the not too distant future.”
The English coach has been at the helm of the club for almost 18 months now and the club has struggled for results this season.
In fact, the Reds have only two wins to show from their opening six matches, leaving the team in ninth place in the Premier League standings, with only six points to show.
Last weekend, Balzan FC suffered their fourth defeat of the season when they went down to Floriana 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.
Balzan FC are now looking to install a new first-team coach in time to take charge of the team before their next Premier League match against Gżira United on Saturday at the Centenary Stadium, with the game kicking off at 8pm.
Former Birkirkara and Gżira United coach Paul Zammit is the favourite for the job.
