Malta women Borg, Sciberras meet as Roma CF, Tavagnacco share spoils in Serie B

Malta women international players Martina Borg and Nicole Sciberras crossed swords as their respective clubs Roma Calcio Femminile and Tavagnacco fired blanks in the Serie B Femminile, on Wednesday afternoon.

Borg’s Roma CF were at the back of a 3-1 upset against Serie B leaders Pink Bari and was deployed from the start as a midfielder for the Tavagnacco game.

Sciberras, on her part, returned to the starting formation as a fullback with Tavagnacco looking to add to last Sunday’s victory over Brescia.

In a fairly-balanced contest, Borg could have broke the deadlock for her side with a close-range effort in the first half just to be denied by Tavagnacco’s goalkeeper.

On the other hand, Sciberras played a key part in keeping Roma CF’s attacks at bay as the goalless stalemate prevailed.

Following this draw, Tavagnacco remain fourth with 14 points while Roma CF remain third bottom with 5 points after both teams played seven games so far.

Next Sunday, Sciberras’ Tavagnacco travel to Sassari Torres while Borg’s Roma CF face Palermo on Sicilian soil.
