Malta women’s international forward Haley Bugeja opened her 2021/2022 account at Sassuolo after finding the net in the first-half against Napoli in the Serie A Femminile, on Saturday afternoon.
Bugeja was given the nod from the start as she scored the goal as Sassuolo led Napoli at half-time. The Neroverde preserved their one-goal lead until the end to claim the spoils in Napoli.
The Maltese forward was at the right spot at the right time to slot in from close-range and score her 13th goal for Sassuolo since joining the club last season.
Sassuolo remain second on 24 points, three behind leaders Juventus whom they will face in their next league game on December 4.
Next weekend, Sassuolo will face Serie B side Cesena in their second Coppa Italia game of the season.
Last season, Bugeja’s first Serie A goals were against Napoli as well when she scored a brace in Sassuolo’s 3-1 win on her professional debut.
