The Malta Baseball and Softball Association (MABS) organised its first Under-13 tournament since 2020, following the COVID-19 restrictions which had brought the sport to a halt.
The tournament, played over two weekends, showed very competitive encounters between the Ghajnsielem Redcoats and the Mellieha Cubs at the Ghajnsielem baseball pitch.
The tournament saw many outstanding defensive plays and a good number of hits were also registered by these two very promising teams – Two of which were also home runs. The first one was hit by a Mellieha Cubs player during the first game, while the other was hit by one of the Redcoats in the bottom of the 5th inning of the final game.
Both sets of coaches were very pleased with the performances of their respective players especially with the progress made from the games played the previous Sunday.
The association said it has plans to schedule more such tournaments during the course of next year.
