Icelandic winger Juliana Onnudottir joins Mġarr United women’s team

Mġarr United women’s have completed a transfer coup on deadline day of the winter transfer window after bringing in Icelandic winger Juliana Onnudottir on a deal that will run until the end of the season.

Onnudottir, born in 2000, is described as a fast winger who can play on both left and right flanks.

The young player – whose move to Malta was assisted by agents Alberto Larrea and Stavros Gkeilas – came through Icelandic giants Breidablik, who boast one of the best academies in the Nordic island. At the age of 14, she was already part of the U-17’s selection of the same club.

During the 2021 campaign, Onnudottir played for Hamar in Iceland’s third-tier where she made her senior debut. In 20 matches, she recorded three goals and provided several assists.

She will be immediately thrown into the mix, as coach Michael Mangion included in the starting formation of Mġarr as they face league rivals Birkirkara on Wednesday night.
