Maltese youth player Emma Ciantar Piccinino is set to join Middlesbrough women’s team in the FA Women’s National League (third-tier), the Times of Malta can confirm.
Sources close to the player confirmed with this portal that the transfer documents should be approved on Sunday before the 18-year-old joins the Reserves’ team for their league game against Chorley FC.
In fact, the Malta U-19’s international will join the Reserves’ team with whom she will be getting most of her game time while joining the first team for their training sessions.
Ciantar Piccinino’s move comes after a successful trial period that the young Maltese underwent at Middlesbrough.
She started the 2021/2022 campaign with Sunderland West End Ladies in the fifth-tier.
At Sunderland West End Ladies, Ciantar Piccinino scored 2 goals in 10 appearances before swapping them with Middlesbrough.
She will be juggling her third-tier commitments with her Sunderland FoL’s team with whom she plays in the National Football Youth League every Wednesday.
Ciantar Piccinino found the net on six occasions in the 11 games she played for Sunderland FoL.
Meanwhile, Emma’s sister – Rachel – has claimed the U-16’s championship with Boldon CA after defeating Thornaby 4-2 while second-place Stockton Town were defeated which earned Rachel’s team the title with two games in hand.
