Mosta found no difficulty in reaching the Round of 16 of the Izibet FA Trophy as they defeated Challenge League side Luqa St. Andrew’s 5-0.
Despite resting a number of players, the Blues dominated from start to finish. Zachary Brincat handed them an early two-goal lead with William Donkin adding another towards the end of the first half. During the second half, Donkin scored another two goals to extend the lead further.
In the next round, Mosta will be facing the winner of the clash between Birkirkara and Fgura United.
Mosta took the lead on 10 minutes. Michael Mifsud sent Zachary Brincat through on the right and the latter slotted past goalkeeper Pablo Villar Flores with an angled shot.
Five minutes later, the Blues doubled the score. Jonas Rodrigues Ekani exchanged the ball on the right with Michael Mifsud before releasing Zachary Brincat inside the area and the latter beat the Luqa custodian with another angled shot.
Seven minutes from the end of the first half, Mosta increased the lead. William Donkin intercepted a pass by Degiorgio in midfield and advanced, rounding a couple of defenders before slotting past Villar Flores with a shot from inside the area.
On 61 minutes, Mosta increased the lead further as William Donkin stole the ball off Kayode Olowoyo on the edge of the area, beating the Luqa custodian with a low shot.
Mosta kept pushing for more and on 73 minutes, William Donkin completed his hat-trick when he pounced on an assist by Gianluca Sciberras on the left and beat Villar Flores with a low shot from inside the area.
