Maltese youngster Kailey Willis maintained her positive form to score a brace for Hellas Verona U-19’s women’s team in their comfortable 9-1 win against Sassari Torres in the Italian U-19’s championship.
The former Birkirkara forward scored her team’s first two goals of the game which propelled them to the victory and pick up the three points.
More impressively is Willis’ scoring form which has now seen her net 14 goals in 15 league games in the 2021/2022 season.
In total, the Malta U-19’s player has 16 goals in 21 games in the Primavera since joining Hellas Verona.
In the process, Hellas Verona are ensured a place in the Scudetto play-offs as they have a five-point lead over fifth-place Cittadella with one game left to conclude the regular season.
Malta women’s international Rachel Cuschieri was part of Lazio’s thrilling 4-4 draw against Hellas Verona in the Serie A Femminile. She came on in the second half to collect another Italian top-flight appearance with one game left to wrap up the Serie A.
In Serie B, three Maltese players were action as they all managed to obtain positive results.
Como Women had Emma Lipman in the starting formation as they eased past Palermo 4-0 to keep their promotion hopes alive, as only two games are left in the Italian second-tier.
Nicole Sciberras started for Tavagnacco as they secured their second straight win after beating Ravenna 1-0 away from home.
Meanwhile, Martina Borg also put on a full shift as her Roma Calcio Femminile side halted their negative run of results to pick up a point against Cittadella after their 1-1 draw.
Elsewhere, Emma Ciantar Piccinino played for the reserve side of Middlesbrough after beating Barnsley 6-2.
