Keith Gouder named senior team coach at Hibernians women

Hibernians women’s team have announced that their senior team’s coach will be Keith Gouder.

Gouder has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with an option for a third at Hibernians as the Paolites will make their return to senior football after dropping out midway into the 2019/2020 season and skipping both the 2020/2021 and the 2021/2022 campaigns.

For Gouder, this will be a second return at the club where he established himself as a winning coach in the local women’s game.

He served as an assistant to Jose Borg during the 2012/2013 season before taking over as a coach in the following season, going on to spend three seasons at helm of the Paolites.

Throughout those three years, Gouder led Hibernians to a trio of championships including in the 2013/2014 season which was the first title since 2008, two Knock-Out triumphs and three Super Cups.

He also contributed in forging a new chapter in the Maltese women’s game after steering Hibernians to a historic 3-3 draw with KI of Faroe Islands in the 2015/2016 UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifications. It was the first ever point recorded by a Maltese team in this competition.

After parting ways with Hibernians, Gouder was appointed as Swieqi United women’s coach whom he helped clinch promotion to the top-flight in his debut season.

Between 2017 and 2019, Swieqi finished in the top two places in the then First Division – Section B for two seasons in a row.

Gouder’s last two seasons in charge of the senior team saw him guide Swieqi to a third place (28 points, 2019/2020) and a second place (32 points, 2020/2021).

In the 2021/2022 season, Gouder was designated as Match Analyst within the Swieqi United’s department while also serving as a coach in the U-16’s and U-20’s technical staff of The Owls.
