Durham Cestria will be playing in the FA Women’s National League – Division One North (fourth-tier) after finishing third in last season’s campaign.
Gatt, 18, has already played in England having been at Barking Abbey at college level while also playing for London Seaward in the fourth-tier as well.
At Barking Abbey, Gatt was captain of the team as she guided them to the final of the National Youth Cup final which she contended against fellow Maltese player Emma Ciantar Piccinino, then at Sunderland Foundation of Light.
In the league, Barking Abbey placed second due to worst goal difference record than the eventual champions.
She capped her excellent season by winning the Student Athlete of the Year at the Barking Abbey College.
At London Seaward, Gatt played nine games in her first season at senior level in England.
Gatt was also a pivotal player for the Malta U-19’s selection as they clinched a historic promotion tow League A of the European qualifiers after picking up seven points against Northern Ireland, Azerbaijan and Faroe Islands.
The Division One North campaign is expected to start on August 28 when Gatt’s side will face Stockport County in an away fixture.
