Poland defender Bartosz Bereszynski has moved on loan to Napoli from Serie A rivals Sampdoria, the southern club announced on Saturday.
Napoli revealed in a short statement they had signed 30-year-old right-back Bereszynski “with an option to buy”.
Italian media report that Napoli can make the transfer permanent at the end of the season for 1.8 million euros ($1.9 million).
Bereszynski, who had been at Sampdoria since 2017, has 50 caps for his country and played in all of Poland’s matches at the World Cup in Qatar where they reached the last 16.
Napoli lead Serie A by five points after losing their opening match of 2023 to Inter Milan on Wednesday night.
Luciano Spalletti’s side travel to struggling Genoa club Sampdoria on Sunday evening as they bid for a first league title since 1990.
