Malta women internationals Emma Lipman and Rachel Cuschieri suffered defeats with their respective clubs in the Serie A Femminile, on Saturday.
Lipman, who is the captain of the Malta women side, was also Como Women’s skipper as they hosted Pomigliano.
Pomigliano scored a first-half winner to sink 10-man Como and pip their opponents to sixth place.
Cuschieri also started for Sampdoria Women as they conceded a 4-0 defeat at the hands of giants Inter.
The Malta women, who last week celebrated another milestone in her distinguished career at club level, played 83 minutes before being subbed out.
Sampdoria have now suffered 9 defeats as both Como and Sampdoria are on the brink of relegation pool football in the third round of Italy’s top-flight.
