Two months after coming out as gay, Czech international midfielder Jakub Jankto is making the headlines again after he refused a drug test during a road check in Prague.
The 27-year-old winger is on loan at Czech top flight leaders Sparta Prague from Spanish Liga side Getafe.
Sparta said on its website on Wednesday it had sidelined Jankto so he could “deal with his personal matters”.
“The player is not ready to fulfil duties given by his professional contract,” the club said.
On Tuesday, police stopped Jankto’s car following a call from another driver who suspected the footballer might be drunk-driving.
He passed a breathalyser test but declined a drug test or a medical scan.
The Blesk tabloid said Jankto did not have a driving licence which the police had seized from him earlier.
A former Udinese and Sampdoria player, Jankto has scored four goals in 45 international games for the Czech Republic.
He announced he was gay in February, sparking a wave of international support.
