Durham Women had announced that the Malta international, together with three other players, have left the club after their contract expired before Lewes announced the arrival of Farrugia on a one-year deal.
Farrugia is currently with the national team as the women’s side will take on World Cup-bound Haiti in an international friendly, this Saturday.
The Gozitan-born player joined Durham Women last season following her first English spell at Sunderland Ladies.
At Durham Women, Farrugia made 21 appearances in all competitions including in the victory over Manchester United in the women’s League Cup back in October.
Lewes, who also feature in the Championship – the second-tier – placed ninth in last season’s 12-team campaign.
They are coached by former Scotland international Scott Booth, winner of five Scottish women’s league titles at the helm of Glasgow City.
Meanwhile, former Malta U-19’s international Emma Ciantar Piccinino has been confirmed by London Seaward while her sister, Rachel, will be moving up one category as she joins Harverstors St Albans who play in Hertfordshire League’s Division 1.
