Division One side Depiro BC announced the signing of Serbian forward Nikola Bozovic on Wednesday.
This first signing for coach Ruben Baldacchino’s side over the summer break brings to the club last season’s Amateur League Cup Most Valuable Player (MVP) as Balkan Fusion had beaten Mellieha Libertas’ amateur side in the final in April.
In a statement, Baldacchino lauded Bozovic’s experience while welcoming him to the team.
“Nikola’s (Bozovic) talent is well known, winning various honours with Balkan Fusion,” he said.
“He is a great man both on and off the court and will definitely give the needed experience to our young team. We are happy to welcome him into our family.”
While Bozovic has most of his experience on local shores with Balkan Fusion in the Amateur Division, The Serb was also allowed to represent Malta through residence in this year’s edition of the Games of the Small States of Europe where he formed part of Malta’s 3×3 side.
“Following successful seasons with Balkan Fusion represented Malta in 3×3 in the Games of the Small States of Europe, he’s ready to wear our colours and fight for all honours this season,” the club’s statement read.
