World champion Max Verstappen took victory in the Belgian Grand Prix sprint race at a wet and wild Spa on Saturday.
Red Bull’s Verstappen came home ahead of Australian rookie Oscar Piastri in a McLaren and French driver Pierre Gasly who was third for the troubled Alpine team.
Verstappen claimed eight points for his victory, further hammering home his dominance of this year’s title race having already been 110 points ahead of teammate Sergio Perez at the start of the weekend.
The Dutchman also topped qualifying on Friday for Sunday’s main event but a grid penalty for a change of gearbox demoted him to sixth.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will instead start from pole position.
