BOV Premier League side Gudja United have signed Australian goalkeeper Yaren Sozer, the club has announced.
26-year-old Sozer joins a club in full swing this summer as they brought in no less than seven players for new coach Jesmond Zammit.
Sozer, who holds an Australian and Turkish passport, had since been moving between the two countries with the exception of a stint in Malaysia with Perak FC. This means that this will be the goalkeeper’s first experience in Europe.
The former Istanbul Basaksehir and Central Coast Mariners is Gudja’s second addition of the summer in the between the posts as he joins Italian goalkeeper Tommaso Vitali who was signed earlier this month.
Apart from the two goalkeepers, Gudja have also signed Mozambique international Gianluca Lorenzoni, former Marsaxlokk player Walter Serrano, Matteo Cassini, former Sirens midfielder Sean Cipriott, and brought back Gabriel Mensah.
In addition to the new players, the Premier League side that finished in sixth place of the league last season, just four points below Gzira United and the European spots, announced this summer they had extended Argentine midfielder Matias Muchardi.
