Dorian Pisani resigns as coach of Neptunes WPSC

Neptunes WPSC have announced the resignation of Dorian Pisani from his position as the club’s head coach.

The news was confirmed on Wednesday in a statement released on the club’s social media.

In the statement, the club said that “on Tuesday 29th August 2023, senior team coach, Dorian Pisani, submitted his letter of resignation to the Committee.

“The Club and Committee take this opportunity to thank Dorian for his hard work, dedication, commitment, integrity, honesty and loyalty when leading the senior team and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Pisani’s resignation brings an end to his second spell at the Balluta Bay club.

The 55-year-old mentor had been at the helm of Neptunes WPSC for over a year but failed to put the club back on track.

Although Neptunes this year, qualified for the championship playoffs final, they finished the season without a major title.

In his first spell at Neptunes in 2015, Pisani went on to win the Winter League before he handed over the reins to Zoran Mustur.

Pisani had a very successful spell with Neptunes’ rivals, San Ġiljan, between 2020 and 2021, winning a double in his first year and although failing to successfully defend the title in the second season, they made up by winning the Knock Out title.

Neptunes said that “an announcement on the appointment of a new senior team coach will be made in the coming days”.

Meanwhile, sources close to the Balluta Bay’s club said that Marsaxlokk coach Aleksandar Ciric is the front runner to take over from Pisani.

Marsaxlokk under the helm of Ciric won the Knock Out title this season.
