Natalee Geren was included in the 2023 NWSL Draft
Hibernians women’s team have bolstered their defensive department with the arrival of American defender Natalee Geren, the club announced on Thursday.
The Paolites were looking to add more quality to their backline and they set their eyes on Geren who is highly-rated back in the States.
Geren, 23, embarks in Maltese football for her first experience outside the United States.
Back in January, she was one of the players included in the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League draft after coming out of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she honed her football skills at Little Rock Trojans.
Afterwards, she made a handful of appearances for Arkansas Wolves in late 2022.
She is at the back of a solid campaign with Austin Rise FC in the Women’s Premier Soccer League – the top amateur league in the USA, with whom she played during this summer.
At Austin Rise, Geren won the club’s Defender of the Year award.
She is club’s second foreign addition this season after the arrival of goalkeeper Zeeyana Jivraj who already made her domestic debut.
Hibernians launched their women’s league campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Valletta, last weekend.
Keith Gouder’s side face a harder test this weekend as they rub shoulders with Mġarr United.
