Malta Waterpolo Referees Association president Mario Dalli represented the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta at the LEN Seminar for waterpolo referees and technical Delegates held in Barcelona last month.
The aim of the seminar was to discuss the new waterpolo rules as provided by World Aquatics in January 2023.
The main speakers at this seminar were LEN TWPC president Angel Moliner, secretary Dejan Perisic, vice president Tamas Molnar, member Nikos Stravlopulos as well as WWRA president Boris Margeta.
Peter Balzan the MWRA secretary and international referee, travelled to Rijeka for the qualification of the Euro Cup between September 23 and 25.
Participating teams were Rijeka and Sibenik, from Croatia, Romania’s Oredea and Radinski from Serbia.
Meanwhile, the MWRA referees are currently in Ostia, Rome to attend the annual conference organised by the Italian Referees’ Association (GUG). The Maltese officials are accompanied by ASA president Karl Izzo.
During their stay in Italy, discussions will be held with the top officials of GUG to strengthen the bilateral agreement signed last year.
Also, during this conference, the 2023 waterpolo rules and interpretations will be discussed between both sides.
The MWRA, in collaboration with the ASA, is organising a number of seminars between October 3 and 5 in the local governing body Boardroom at the Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex for all assessors, referees and coaches.
Rules and interpretations will be discussed. The main speaker will be MWRA president Mario Dalli accompanied by secretary Balzan and treasurer Massimo Angileri.
On the other hand, Stefan Licari and Richard Magri will be traveling to Croatia and Turkey respectively to attend the LEN Waterpolo Referees’ Clinics and will be sitting for their examinations with the hope to qualify as LEN International Referees.
