Malta national team goalkeeper Jake Tanti will continue his career abroad after he agreed on a deal to sign for Spanish top-flight side CN Mataro.
The announcement was made by Malta champions San Ġiljan who are hoping will help Tanti to further maximise his undoubted talent.
“National team captain and Senior Team goalkeeper Jake Tanti will be joining CN Mataro in the Spanish premier league until the end of May as their first goalkeeper,” San Ġiljan said in a statement.
“CN Mataro are already qualified for the Spanish Cup which is played by the top 8 teams of the first round of the Spanish League. This competition enjoys a huge audience.
“For the second half of the season, CN Mataro will compete to maintain their top 8 spot which would qualify them for next year’s club European competitions.
“We wish Jake the best of luck for his venture abroad.”
This move is no doubt a great opportunity for Tanti who has in recent years established himself as one of the best goalkeepers on the island.
Earlier this month, Tanti played an inspirational role as the Malta national team finished 15th in the European Championship finals that were played in Croatia.
Added to that, Tanti also played a key role in helping San Ġiljan completing a clean sweep of honours in domestic competitions.
After his experience in Spain, Tanti is expected to return to San Ġiljan to help the club lead their challenge for the league championship and the knock out competition.
