Manuela Tesse’s selection to discover Euro qualifiers League B opponents in March.
Following December’s success in the UEFA Women’s Nations League, the Malta women’s national team will return in action with a couple of VisitMalta Women’s Tournament matches during this month’s international window.
The news revealed by the Times of Malta earlier this month was confirmed by the Malta FA during a Friday’s news conference.
Manuela Tesse’s side, ranked 86th, will host Faroe Islands and Belarus on February 22 and February 25 respectively.
Manuela Tesse, Malta National Women’s Coach, highlighted the importance of the upcoming friendly matches ahead of the team’s opening commitments in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 with the qualifying draw scheduled for 5th March.
“These friendlies are an important part of our preparations for the next international commitments,” Tesse said.
“We must keep up the progress and offer more positive emotions to the Maltese fans. I believe that our win over Latvia a few months ago provided this kind of emotion and my aim is for the team to keep offering these emotional experiences to encourage more supporters to come and watch our team”, the Italian concluded.
Albania will be travelling over to Malta as well but they will be playing only the Faroes and Belarus.
Ranked 110th, the Faroe Islands finished bottom of their Nations League Group C without a single point in six matches.
On the other hand, Belarus – sitting 57th, were relegated to League C after finishing bottom in their League B group with just two points to show for their efforts.
The Maltese side will make their League B debut in the upcoming UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifications after discovering their opponents in March 5’s draw.
MALTA FIXTURES
