Leaders Nadur Youngsters and nearest challengers Qala Saints secured identical 3-1 victories in their final match of the second round to ensure they are the only title challengers this season.
The other two matches from the GFA Division One ended in a draw with Oratory Youths seeing their gap from second-from-bottom Xagħra United increasing to five points.
Nadur Youngsters were back to winning ways when they overcame third-placed SK Victoria Wanderers to remain three points clear at the top.
The Youngsters were buoyed by the fact that they could field their strongest formation as they recovered several players who missed the previous matches due to injury and suspension.
Nadur took the lead on 26 minutes when Marcelo Barbosa released Joao Vitor who kept his cool and lobbed the ball into the net.
Barbosa marked his return with two quick goals on 30 and 42 minutes to put the Youngsters well in charge.
The Wanderers managed to pull a goal back four minutes into the second half through a penalty converted by Caique Souza Da Silva.
But from then on the Youngsters regained control to finish as comfortable winners.
Qala kept up the pressure on the leaders when they eased past bottom-placed Oratory Youths 3-1.
Qala took an early lead through a Lucas Mattheus free-kick on 12 minutes.
Oratory fought back and levelled matters on 23 minutes through a volley by Joshua Buttigieg.
But the Saints soon regained control and Igor Nedeljkovic put them back in front from a penalty.
Oratory were unlucky not to level matters on 49 minutes when an effort by Luis Gabriel hit the bar.
The Saints sealed the points seven minutes from time with a low shot by Nedeljkovic.
Kerċem Ajax and Għajnsielem remained locked on the 17-point mark after they played out a goalless draw to preserve their mid-table position.
The match turned out to be a balanced affair with Kerċem’s best chance coming on 76 minutes when an effort by Pablo Vinicius was stopped by the upright.

The Tigers are now sharing third spot in the standings while Xagħra moved five points clear of Oratory Youths.
