Tottenham to host Bayern Munich on August 10
The Malta Tourism Authority and Tottenham Hotspur announced a partnership agreement that will see the English Premiership club play German giants Bayern Munich in London in August.
Former Tottenham Hotspur legends Gary Mabbutt, Ledley King and Osvaldo Ardiles were present for the launch in Malta along with Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo and MTA CEO Carlo Micallef.
The three former footballers visited a number of venues in Malta, including a Tottenham supporters club, the San Ġwann Primary School, and Sirens Football Nursery.
The match on August 10 will be the English side’s pre-season match before the start of the 2024-25 season.
The Visit Malta Cup will also mark prolific goalscorer Harry Kane’s return to the Tottenham Stadium for the first time since his move to Bayern Munich last summer.
“MTA’s objective is to keep growing the Visit Malta brand in the international arena with the aim of attracting new more quality tourism to our Islands all year round, favouring growth in the winter months,” MTA CEO Carlo Micallef told a news conference.
He said a marketing campaign will take place around the event.
Bartolo said: “This collaboration also offers the chance to continue enhancing Malta’s visibility to both the British and German tourist markets.”
