A young Maltese contingent won two games in the European Team Division 3 Squash Championships as they placed sixth in the 14-team tournament.
Malta lost to Austria 3-0 in their final ranking match to finish sixth, on Saturday.
The Maltese side opened these championships, held in Romania, with a 3-0 win over Jersey.
Lijana Sultana defeated Beth Garton 11-3; 11-2; 11-0, Amke Fischer overcome Amelie Turpin 11-1; 11-2; 11-6 before Mattea Saliba won 11-5; 11-4; 11-4 against Tyler Mcallister.
Austria defeated Malta in the second and final Pool B game 3-0 as the Maltese side headed to the ranking matches.
They lost to Ireland 3-0 before beating Croatia 2-1 for their second win in Romania.
Sultana beat her opponent Paulina Rados 11-6, 12-10 and 11-7.
Fischer, on her part, won 11-9, 11-8 and 11-3 against Dora Rezic while Croatia’s point was registered by Korina Centrih who won 11-6, 11-7 against Alexandra Agius.
For these championships, Malta fielded a young team composed of Sultana, Fischer, Saliba, Agius and Venita De Giorgio.
