Sliema Wanderers have announced the signing of Malta international defender Adam Magri Overend.
The 23-year-old defender was a free agent after he decided not to renew his contract with his former club Floriana.
“Adam is officially a BLUE,” the Wanderers said in a statement.
“This morning 24-year-old Maltese full back Adam Magri Overend signed a three-year permanent deal with the Blues.”
Magri Overend has been attracting the interest of several clubs in recent weeks but the Wanderers were very keen on his signature and after lengthy talks between the two parties an agreement was found and the transfer was sealed on Wednesday morning.
The young full back arrives at the Wanderers after a three-year spell at Floriana FC.
During his spell with the Greens, Magri Overend played a key role in helping Floriana winning the 2022 FA Trophy and was also voted as the Young Player of the Year in the same year.
Last season, Magri Overend failed to secure regular football at Floriana. However, after returning from injury in April he still managed to play his part to help Floriana late in the season during their title challenge in the Premier League and the FA Trophy, where the team reached the final.
Magri Overend is now hopeful of relaunching his career at Sliema Wanderers where he will be working under the guidance of Paul Zammit.
Magri Overend is the second Malta international player to join the Wanderers this summer after earlier this month, the Times of Malta revealed that the Blues had agreed terms with Cain Attard.
