Sliema Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Cain Attard.
Earlier this month, the Times of Malta had reported that the Wanderers had agreed terms to sign the Malta international wing back.
And Sliema Wanderers confirmed on Friday that a deal has now been finally sealed and the 29-year-old put pen to paper on a one-year deal.
“Cain Attard is officially a BLUE!!,” Sliema Wanderers said on their facebook page.
“The 29-year-old Maltese International full back joins the Blues on a permanent basis, following a one-year experience in Portugal.
“Welcome to Sliema, Cain!!”
The 29-year-old Attard spent the past season playing for Os Belenenses in the Portuguese Liga 2, where he made 13 appearances, scored one goal and provided one assist.
Attard, who had come through the youth nurseries of Melita FC and Pieta Hotspurs, was encouraged to join the Wanderers as he will re-unite with his former coach Zammit with whom he worked during his spell at Birkirkara FC.
Cain Attard is Sliema’s second signing this month after earlier this week, the Blues confirmed that they secured the services of Adam Magri Overend, who for the past three seasons was on the books of Floriana.
Added to that the Blues are closing in on a deal to sign midfielder Simon Zibo.
The robust Ghana midfielder is a free agent as his contract with Birkirkara expired at the end of the season.
